Die Reifen-Kennzeichnungs-Verordnung legt die Informationspflichten zu Kraftstoffeffizienz, Nasshaftung und externem Rollgeräusch von Reifen fest. Zusätzlich wird auf Wintereigenschaften des Produktes hingewiesen.
Die seit dem 1.11.2012 gültige EU 1222/2009 Verordnung wurde überarbeitet und wird ab dem 1. Mai 2021 durch die Verordnung EU 2020/740 ersetzt; ab diesem Zeitpunkt gelten neue Anforderungen. So wurden die Bewertungsklassen für Kraftstoffeffizienz, Nasshaftung und Außengeräusch geändert und das Layout des EU-Labels angepasst. Über einen in das Label integrierten QR-Code können die in der EU-Datenbank hinterlegten Produktdatenblätter der Hersteller heruntergeladen werden. Neu enthalten sind auch Angaben zur Schneegriffigkeit und Eisgriffigkeit bei Reifen, die diese Kriterien erfüllen.
Von der Verordnung sind folgende Reifen ausgenommen:
- Reifen, die ausschließlich für die Montage an Fahrzeugen ausgelegt sind, deren Erstzulassung vor dem 1. Oktober 1990 erfolgte
- runderneuerte Reifen (bis eine entsprechende Erweiterung der EU VO 2020/740 erfolgt ist)
- professionelle Off-Road-Reifen
- Rennreifen
- Reifen mit Zusatzvorrichtungen zur Verbesserung der Traktion, z.B. Spikereifen
- Notreifen des Typs T
- Reifen mit einer zulässigen Geschwindigkeit unter 80 km/h
- Reifen für Felgen mit einem Nenndurchmesser ≤ 254 mm oder ≥ 635 mm

Die Kriterien und Bewertungsklassen im Überblick

Kraftstoffeffizienz
Der Kraftstoffverbrauch hängt vom Rollwiderstand der Bereifung, dem Fahrzeug selbst, den Fahrbedingungen und dem Fahrverhalten des Fahrers ab. Der gemessene Rollwiderstand (Rollwiderstandskoeffizient) des Reifens wird in Klassen A (größte Effizienz) bis E (geringste Effizienz) eingeteilt.
Ist ein Fahrzeug komplett mit Reifen der Klasse A ausgestattet, ist im Vergleich zu einer Ausstattung mit Reifen der Klasse E eine Verbrauchsreduzierung von bis zu 7,5%* möglich. Bei Nutzfahrzeugen kann sie sogar höher ausfallen.

Nasshaftung
Die Nasshaftung ist in die Klassen A (kürzester Bremsweg) – E (längster Bremsweg) unterteilt.
Bei der Ausrüstung eines PKW mit Reifen der Klasse A kann, im Vergleich zu Reifen der Klasse E, bei einer Vollbremsung aus 80 km/h ein bis zu 18 m kürzerer Bremsweg erzielt werden (auf einer durchschnittlich griffigen Fahrbahn).*

Externes Rollgeräusch
Die Geräuschemission eines Reifens wirkt sich auf die Gesamtlautstärke des Fahrzeugs aus und beeinflusst nicht nur den eigenen Fahrkomfort, sondern auch die Geräuschbelastung der Umwelt. Im EU-Reifenlabel wird das externe Rollgeräusch in 3 Klassen von A (geringstes Rollgeräusch) – C (höchstes Rollgeräusch) aufgeteilt, in Dezibel (dB) gemessen und mit den europäischen Geräuschemissions-Grenzwerten für externe Reifenrollgeräusche verglichen.
A
Das Piktogramm mit der Klassifizierung „A“ weist darauf hin, dass das externe Rollgeräusch des Reifens den bis 2016 geltenden EU-Grenzwert um mehr als 3 dB unterschreitet.
B
Die Klassifizierung „B“ bedeutet, dass das externe Rollgeräusch des Reifens den bis 2016 geltenden EU-Grenzwert um bis zu 3 dB unterschreitet oder diesem entspricht.
C
Die Klassifizierung „C“ weist darauf hin, dass der vorgegebene Grenzwert überschritten wird.

Schneegriffigkeit, Wintereigenschaft
Reifen die mit dem „Schneeflocken oder Alpine Symbol“ (im engl. 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake, kurz „3PMSF“-Symbol) gekennzeichnet sind, müssen ein bestimmtes Brems- oder Traktionsvermögen auf einer verfestigten Schneedecke im Vergleich zu einem standardisierten Referenz-Vergleichsreifen (eine sog. „SRTT“ = Standard Reference Test Tyre) aufweisen.

Für alle ab dem 1.1. 2018 hergestellten Winter- und Ganzjahresreifen ist in der EU das Alpine Symbol Pflicht. So gekennzeichnete Reifen werden in einem standardisierten und weltweit anerkannten Testverfahren auf Ihre Schneeeigenschaften hin geprüft und müssen vorgegebene Mindestanforderungen erfüllen. Diese Reifen sind bei winterlichen Bedingungen - Schnee, vereiste Fahrbahnen sowie tiefe Temperaturen - besonders leistungsfähig in Bezug auf Sicherheit und Fahrkontrolle.
