Speedline wheels: Italian motorsport technology for the road and the racetrack
Speedline is a long-established Italian brand of alloy wheels, whose development is closely linked to international motorsport. The wheels are characterised by functional construction, striking designs and a consistent focus on stability and low weight. As well as rims for the aftermarket, the company manufactures solutions for motorsport and selected vehicle manufacturers.
History and origins of the company
Speedline’s roots date back to 1976. The company was founded in Italy as a specialist manufacturer of aluminium wheels for racing cars. Even its very first products were developed for demanding motorsport applications. In the decades that followed, the range expanded to include rims for rally, circuit and formula cars, as well as wheels for road use.
Speedline rims have been used in numerous international racing series. According to the brand, the wheels have contributed to more than 80 FIA world championship titles, including successes in Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship. This experience continues to influence the design and manufacture of the alloy wheels to this day.
The Italian company Speedline S.r.l. was at one time part of the Swiss RONAL GROUP. In 2023, the company, including the Speedline and Speedline Corse brands, was sold to a German investment company. Development and production remain closely linked to the company’s Italian base.
Speedline wheels: product range and well-known models
The range comprises alloy wheels for road use, classic cars and professional motorsport applications. Depending on the model, either casting or flow-forming processes are used. In flow-forming, the wheel rim is rolled out during production to enable a robust yet comparatively lightweight construction.
Well-known Speedline wheel models include:
- Type 2120 Turini – a well-known flow-forming rim for tarmac, rally and road use
- SL434 – featuring a classic motorsport look for selected historic vehicles
- Type 2013C – a distinctive retro rim with a multi-spoke design
- SL675 and Type 2110 Challenge for sporty road and competition vehicles
- SL676 with a classic design and generous clearance for the braking system
- Type 2108, Type 2118 and Type 2128 for various rally and racing requirements
Depending on the version, colours such as white, silver, gold, anthracite, red or black are available. Before purchasing, the rim size, bolt circle, offset, centre bore, wheel load and approval documents should be carefully checked against the vehicle specifications.
