Legal guarantee

When purchasing goods, consumers are entitled to legal guarantee rights. Within the European Union, consumer goods are generally covered by a legal guarantee of at least two years. Additional statutory provisions may apply depending on the EU Member State.

The legal guarantee applies independently of any additional manufacturer’s guarantee or commercial guarantee that may be offered.

What is the difference between the legal guarantee and a manufacturer’s guarantee?

The legal guarantee is a legal right against the seller.

A manufacturer’s guarantee or commercial guarantee, on the other hand, is an additional guarantee that a manufacturer may voluntarily provide for a product under certain conditions. Such a guarantee does not restrict your legal guarantee rights.
